A Collection of Landscapes

Location.  Location.  Location.  It’s a phrase that real-estate investors have become familiar with over the years.  To me, it means something else.  I believe a location alone can stand out as evidence that there is a God.  Sometimes what you see in front of you is just so beautiful that it’s hard to image it as anything other than a creative work.  Every now and again I’ll be walking down a street or driving past some scenery, and it’ll catch my eye.  ”What is it?” …you might ask.  I’m talking about that moment when you suddenly realize something miraculous is sitting right in front of you and you wish you had a camera.  Well folks, that is the primary reason why I can be found almost anyplace at anytime with my camera.

These are gorgeous, Chad…my favorite one is the abandoned church.

Potomac Patriots Ad Campaign

These photos were taken way back…  almost a year ago now actually.  It was my first post-college commercial photoshoot, and it was for the youth hockey organization I grew up in.  The subject was my very own brother, sporting the Potomac Patriots new snazzy uniforms out on the ice.

Speaking of ice, I would like to mention that this was a temporary rink was located in an old lumberyard warehouse (a hockey rink surrounded by 4 sheet metal walls).  This was also during the middle of winter, and it was 20 degrees outside…  which meant it was also 20 degrees inside the rink.  I was freezing.

I lugged all of my studio lighting gear out and into the middle of the ice to get some action shots so that the new uniforms could be shown off in style.  The end result turned out to be pretty impressive, and the photo shown above has been used as the Patriots’ main piece of marketing material on their website and in print for a year now.

Caryl+Mark Wedding | Fredericksburg, VA

I photographed Caryl and Mark a few weeks back for their engagement pictures, and what a joy it was.  They sure did live up to their loving reputation on their wedding day!  The wedding was held at the James Monroe Museum in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia on a gorgeous first day of October.  The air was crisp and the breeze was chilly.  A perfect introduction to fall and a wonderful way to start off marriage.

They had the big tree in the center of the courtyard decorated with these hanging candle holders…  an exceptional touch that added to the cozy fall atmosphere that was setting in.

This guy was one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met, so talented too.  He played his heart out for a solid 3 or so hours without stopping once for anything.  He is a true musician and an experienced wedding player, not to mention an extremely nice guy as well.  I spoke with him for a good half hour after the reception ended, exchanged business cards, shook hands, and parted ways.  I hope to run into him at another wedding again some day.

As you can see, this was a very unique and beautiful wedding on the perfect day.  After having shot a couple more October weddings since this one, I’m quickly realizing that the modern day “wedding season” is in the Fall, not Spring….  and I love it!

Daddy Daughter Date Night

Last week Brittany (my wife in case you didn’t know) had me come out to photograph an event she was hosting in Sterling, Virginia.  She is the Unit Marketing Director for this Chick-Fil-A location, and loves her job.  She puts so much time, effort, and care into the preparations and proceedings of all her events…  and Daddy Daughter Date Night was no exception.

Some of these photos are being featured on the store’s facebook page, but each and every “Daddy and Daughter” that came had their picture taken as they entered the limo after their meal for a drive around the parking lot, and each photo will be made available in print for pick-up at the store next week.  The entire event really went well and exemplified how Brittany pays such close attention to detail and really does care about her work. :)

The decorations Brittany chose really fit in well with the preexisting Chick-Fil-A in-store decorations.  The reserved dining area really looked classy.

These two guys were the servers for the night.  Brittany had them dress up in fancy waiter clothing to further enhance the fine dining experience for the event.

Brittany and the store operator had to give all the employees a “pre-game pep talk” if you will.  It was funny to see how stressed out and nervous some of the employees would get just because the ordering process for this event would be out of the norm they had gotten themselves used to.

Oh and yes, they had two flute players come in and serenade all the daddies and daughters throughout the night.  A nice touch. :)

So cute lol. :)

This little girl LOVED posing for the camera.  Every chance she got, she would stop and smile…  waiting for me to take a picture of her- haha.

Here she is again. :)

They sold out all the available time slots for the event…  so it got pretty crowded in there!

And last but not least, my beautiful wife, the host of Daddy Daughter Date Night, doing what she loves. :)  If you’re ever passing through the Sterling, Virginia area and happen to be feeling a little hungry…  don’t hesitate to stop by the Chick-Fil-A at Sugarland Crossing!
