After shooting all day Friday and most of the day Saturday, we finally finished filming all of the principle photography for Mitch Rossell’s new music video. Since my flight wasn’t set to leave until Sunday morning, Mitch invited me to come along and photograph a demo recording session at his friend Justin’s house.
Now, Justin is a fiddle player, but not just any fiddle player. He plays for Brad Paisley and has done so for as long as Brad has been around. He’s actually one of, if not the longest-tenured supporting musician on Brad’s band right now, according to his wife… who I spoke to for quite some time while the guys continued to cut several new tracks. She was very insightful and had quite a few funny stories to tell me about Justin and Brad. Apparently every time Brad comes over to their house to visit, he forgets they have dogs and asks them excitedly about when they got their new dogs. I bet he sees so many places and meets so many new people everyday that it all just becomes a massive blur after awhile.
I do admit though that it felt quite empowering to know that I was hanging out with and shaking the hands of musicians that are both on the cusp of something big (Mitch) and already at the top of the world (Justin) in the country music industry.
The music was also amazing. Mitch truly is a great songwriter and literally gleams with a sort of country-charisma that’s quite remarkable. I know he will be a huge success someday, and I’m starting to see that “someday” might be getting a little closer than I originally thought. Mitch always says that there’s a general rule-of-thumb in Nashville… ”Once things start moving for you in this town, they really start to move.”
It definitely seems like things are starting to move for Mitch in Nashville. If you’re curious about his music and would like to support him, go check out his songs on iTunes. I know he’d appreciate it. I’ll be posting the music video for his new song called “Perfect” as soon as I finish editing it in the coming weeks. Thanks for reading!
